Frequently Asked Questions |
|
Q. What
are the FTP settings for publishing my website?
A. For
your publishing/FTP username, use your domain
name, without the .com, .net, or .org extension. For
example, if your domain name was yourdomain.com,
your publishing id would be yourdomain.
For your password, use the same password as your
primary email address. The FTP address
is simply your www domain, ie, www.yourdomain.com. |
Q. I
just published my website and everything seemed to
work ok. However, when I go to my website, the
default web page still loads. How do I fix this?
A. Your main page must be named index.html. Rename your
main page and publish your site again. |
Q. I
just published my website and sometimes viewing my
site works, and sometimes it doesn't, especially when
I use different PCs or browsers to view it. What's
going on?
A. Sounds
like you may have spaces in some of your filenames.
While filenames on our servers are not case sensitive,
there are occasionally problems when you have
spaces in your filenames. To ensure that your
site will always load correctly, regardless of
what system and browser is being used to view
it, make sure none of your files or directories
have names that contain spaces. |
|
Q. It
seems slow or hangs when I publish/FTP to the server.
How do I fix this?
A. Some
publishing/FTP programs have a passive transfer
(PASV) setting. Try changing this option
in your publishing/FTP program. If you have a
broadband Internet connection such as DSL, your
upload speed might be slower than your download
speed. If that's the case, you'll just
have to wait while your files are uploaded to
our servers. |
